SAVE LLANELLI TOWN
This is the home of rugby where recent changes have moved the scarlets from stradey park where many a game were fought, to thier new stadium parc-y-scarlets near the new retail outlets of llanelli parc pemberton and park trostre.(llanelli / sosban also known for making saucepans) has a luxury hotel the Stradey Park hotel which has magnificent views of Llanelli , the sea and gower coastline.
Owens road services transport haulage across uk and beyond, from its head office in Dafen Llanelli, it has expanded into other towns throughout south wales in recent years.
Dyfed steel nearby haul great big steel girders to help build new projects .
Yet our town needs more influx from the local council to help instill growth in llanelli, cleaning up unused buildings left for years unrented , where is the atmosphere that was generated by outdoor market days , all but gone as more people think whats the point as everythings closed down. entering a never ending circle and it is a real shame.
This is still a great town parking is cheaper than many places you can find many good shops ,when I lived in swansea my shopping was done here as it was so easy to get round without having to cover several miles of shops a great variety was available .
we have a tv recording studio in the centre of town not many can boast that, we also have many shops undercover with an aray of shops covering more choices than expected from a little town such as llanelli yet its outward growth may lead to many bigger things in the future with industrial estates now in dafen, swiss valley, pemberton, trostre, north dock and burry port . this town ain't so small st elli centre with it's high glass roof is a welcome to llanelli town with again a good selection of shopping stores this extends from llanelli market and opens out also to the clock which many people meet at in town.
there is room for new shops to develop within this town lets just say we only have one fish monger at present yet have dozens of cafe and even more chip shops!!!
ST ELLI SHOPPING CENTRE LLANELLI
a real shame as llanelli being coastal it should have many fish mongers , what has gone wrong with the system they all buy fish from someone yet only one fish stall.
to many people selling direct to resturants maybe the fish they catch locally who knows or is the fish monger getting it all to himself !!!
i doubt that very much .IN SWANSEA MARKET THERE ARE SEVERAL WHO ALL TRADE QUITE WELL ASWELL AS FISH MARKETS IN THE MARINA .
shopping was easy in llanelli but parking has raised big problems resident parking throughout town a waste of millions rerouting around gelli-on roundabout which worked great before why change back theres no sense.
llanelli was a welsh community where people lived like in other smaller villages using the shops within its town to purchase goods and services expansion has seen small businesses struggle to make ends meet, closing so many that the gaps are appearing between areas near town hall and the sunken gardens. prime location for business but rates are too high for them to even open the doors.
rates could be heavily subsidised to help keep empty shops open with the windows dirty and look such an eyesore it will take some doing to entice new traders back to take a dank looking shop ,even when the recession lifts its evil infuence on the current climate.
we have a new hotel built last year another is coming a new cinema and several new shops but town is being absorbed up and mini enterprise zone are taking over this place .
more houses being built is this the answer or not ,we will soon see.
developing companies will take over on the waste land soon where the towns grace will be left so lagging unless a new marketing plan is put together.
llanelli town is a place to visit , kidwelly castle just on the western outskirts of llanelli circa 1100.
its a beautifiul site to see especially from the road coming back from ferryside as you look down from the hill at twilight the castle lit up by coloured lights looks an impending force. the castle which was once the tax collection centre durring the reign of many a king to include edward the first , 1 of his favoured retreats he used .
loughor had a roman outpost at some point its estuarine river is a place of contantly changing banks of sand , silt and mud the strength of the tide can be very dangerous as so can the mud which can swallow you up in some places.
lougher bridge also gives idilic views of the north gower and bury inlet as you enter llanelli .
visit llanelli and shop.
well island house is now gone from llanelli a very symbolic and charismatic building will be sadly missed by many, but times have to move on and a new site of construction has taken priority revamping Llanelli and its town bringing modernisation & forward thinking by our local council.
At last there seems to be a council support to llanelli towns needs advertising campaigns that have been placed in the local paper the llanelli star are helping people see that llanelli has far more to offer than just our window cleaning services.
We happily clean windows for many of the local llanelli shop and love cleaning windows in llanelli. I try to get feedback fed through the right chanels so to speak and have forwarded many issues that need to be completed if there is any sense in the local authourity which I am sure there is.
WE are lucky to have a partly pedestrianised shopping area which does make it rather difficult for window cleaners to clean using safe water fed poles without extending hoses 120m to reach shops in the centre of the town centre itself I know as I conduct these jobs myself.
Slowly I hope the improvements get people out into llanelli once more and help establish the once flourishing trade town back to its former glory.
